Introduction

As technology is so integrated in today’s business landscape, almost every business is a digital business to some extent. Old systems and processes must be rethought, and new technologies have to be put in place in order for businesses to stay competitive within their industry.

With this notion in mind, we designed our Management Information Systems Courses in a way that sets it amongst the highly differentiated MIS Course whether at the local or regional levels. Such differentiation is achieved through combining a well-balanced coherent set of selected units from both the Management and Information Systems realms.

In designing the course, attention has been given as to how students will develop their knowledge and skills throughout the course of their study. All units are delivered in a highly interactive way which is mostly student-centred learning as our aim is for the students to construct their own knowledge rather than follow the traditional ways of route learning. As such, all units include various in class activities and are supported by the appropriate tools, be it software related tools or any other required tool. The preliminary units will lay the foundation to students’ knowledge focusing on philosophies, concepts, models, and theories whether in Management or MIS, while the higher-level units will be mostly designed and delivered towards developing students skills set be it cognitive or practical skills.

The final year units, especially the Graduation Project unit which is carried out individually, will be geared towards supporting the students develop their generic skills mostly related to employability so they are ready to join the job market with high exit velocity and are well exposed to the most recent trends in their field of study.

Careers

Information Systems are becoming ever more central to the success of businesses across all industries; thus the ultimate aim of this course is to develop students’ abilities to employ these systems to manage the complex challenges that might confront a typical business.

To achieve this aim, the course provides the students with a coherent body of knowledge in two growth areas namely: Management and Information Systems.

The solid foundation in these two areas equips students with an MIS degree with the ability to develop the knowledge and the skills that allows them to close the gap, of knowledge, skills, culture, and language that exists between functional managers and information systems specialists, which has rendered both decisions and investments in such systems as failures.

As such, the graduate of this course will be in a strong position to lead the successful development and implementation of sophisticated information systems across a wide range of business organizations and across different managerial functions and levels.

Coordinator’s Welcome

On behalf of our instructors and teaching assistants I would like to welcome you to the Economics Course. The course awards the degree of BA (Hons) in Economics.

The Economics Department has clearly marked its footprints as one of the best economics departments in Egypt. Our successes abound, ranging from the excellent annual reports we receive from British external examiners on the department’s performance and on our students’ researches, to the high performance of our postgraduate students in British universities, to winning first places in international competitions by economics students, the latest of which was the South Korean embassy research competition in 2019. Last but not least, is winning the University Cup for best performance at the university level multiple times by economics students, the latest cup achieved in 2019, reflecting the high academic standard of our graduates.

Almost half a century ago, Keynes, one of the most prominent economists in the world, said: “The ideas of economists and political thinkers, both when they are right and when they are wrong, are more powerful than commonly understood. Indeed the world is ruled by little else.” If you want to know how the world is ruled or if you plan to pursue a career in banking, business or finance or to be employed in a wide range of national, international or governmental institutions, then economics is your choice. Furthermore, the course prepares you for postgraduate studies in economics. If you still have doubts about the importance of economics remember that every year the Swedish Royal Academy of Sciences chooses an economist – from among only six other professions – to be eligible for its esteemed Nobel Prize. Accordingly, being an economist not only enhances your knowledge and builds you a successful career, but also makes you a member of a distinguished profession.

As your Course Coordinator I shall be available with other staff members to give you the support and advice you need during your academic progress. Please do not hesitate to contact me any time. I wish you the best of luck.

The program aims to develop the students’ knowledge and skills to be able to prepare and analyze financial statements to recommend accounting decisions regarding profitability, stability and wealth and justify the reasons for the decision. The course has an amount of finance to enable students to make investment and financing decisions for a business.

Graduates of this program will be prepared for a career in the accounting field with job positions such as: Accountant, Auditor, Credit/Loan Administrator, Budget Analyst, Public Accountant, Corporate Controller, Forensic Accountant, Investment Banker, or Tax Accountant.

The course also prepares the students to be lifelong learners and to pursue further studies either for an academic or a professional degree.

Minors

MSA University is always keen to offer its students a competitive edge to complement their Bachelor degrees. And because many students are interested to acquire a strong foundation in many areas of study, MSA University decided to introduce minors that will be of interest to MSAians with high academic achievement, in many exciting areas.

Earning a minor allows students to address their diverse academic interests and develop extra skills, which for a future employer is very important to show that they have a second area of expertise. The student can chose a minor that goes in handy with the student’s major or a minor that is in a totally different field to add excitement to their studying experience at MSA. For example, if you’re an Engineering student, how about taking up a Management minor? You sure would like to open up your own business one day, and you’ll certainly need to learn more about organizational management and how to become a great leader.

It's a very flexible way to plan ahead and combine their areas of interest and save time and money in their years of university study; it only consists of 5 courses. The only requirement is a minimum of CGPA 2.00 in the first year in university.

It’s worthy to mention that taking a minor will extend the student’s regular graduation time by one semester. Chose a minor and stand out!
