ARCHITECTURAL SYSTEMS ENGINEERING (ASE) PROGRAM

Program Aims:
The aim of the BSc degree in Architectural Engineering is to provide a coherent multi-disciplinary programme of study which offers a thorough grounding in Architectural Engineering. The programme develops the student’s ability to reconcile divergent factors and integrate domains of knowledge in the articulation of an architectural proposition. It equips the student with the tools necessary to design projects of substantial complexity, and to integrate to a professional level advanced technical and environmental knowledge in the resolution of such projects. Because of its’ inter disciplinary nature, the degree will allow the student the flexibility to take up a range of different careers across the architectural profession and the construction job market whether in an architectural firm or a construction/contracting company. The careers range from an architectural designer, to a working drawings/construction document producer or CAD operator, to a site supervisor/engineer. Graduates could as well undertake further training or study to develop their expertise in related fields such as construction management, landscape architecture, urban planning or design, and interior design.
Welcome from the Head of Architectural Department:
Welcome to the MSA Architectural Engineering Department. Our department offers an outstanding educational experience while maintaining a strong sense of family. Compared to other disciplines, architectural education is distinctive as it addresses a range of technical, cultural, social, and economic concerns that have an impact on society as well as natural and built environments.
Knowledge is all around us, but within our department, you'll learn how to acquire, analyze, and evaluate it. In this journey, you will identify your competencies, develop your creativity, and increase your awareness.
Our goal is to prepare our students to become the successful architects of the future who will be able to use their gained knowledge, skills, and qualifications to influence the design of the built environment locally as well as internationally.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Shady Shawky Saifelnasr.
Head of the Architectural Engineering Department.
MSA University.
An Overview of the Program:
The program includes a number of courses and each course has a specific weight in credit hours
- On average, each course has a weight of 3 credit hours.
- In addition to the first year as being a general year to all programs, the advancement through the program courses is distributed progressively throughout the four-year plan.
- Students cannot register for a course unless the course’s prerequisites are met.
- In order for a student to graduate from the program, he/she has to successfully complete all the required courses for this program plus the general year, with a total of 168 credit hours.
- Students can complete all required credit hours over a minimum of 4 years when enrolled for 2 semesters each year, Fall and Spring. The Summer semester is optional and offered for a limited number of courses.

Faculty of Engineering Programs
The Faculty of Engineering would like to welcome you to MSA University. The Faculty offers a B.Sc. degree for the following six programs:
- Architectural Systems Engineering (ASE).
- Civil Engineering Systems (CES).
- Computer Systems Engineering (CSE).
- Electrical Communication & Electronics Systems Engineering (ECE).
- Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE).
- Mechatronics Systems Engineering (MSE).
To graduate from one program, several required courses need to be met. These courses are distributed over a five-year span. The first year is common to all of the five programs.
That year introduces the student to the basic areas of scientific knowledge and provides the student with the opportunity to get good insights into different Engineering disciplines that better position the student in selecting which of the five programs to pursue.
See the chart below and click to enlarge
As the student proceeds throughout their five-year journey, the engineering faculty members provide the necessary support and guidance to:
- improve learning and thinking skills of all students.
- provide the students with access to all available MSA resources and e-learning facilities, as well as the Greenwich resources.
- provide the students with the essential theoretical and experimental engineering applications.
- select the most appropriate assessment methods that maximizes the learnings outcomes.
- provide the students with the necessary tools to interpret and analyze engineering problems.
- enhance the employability of all students by helping them improve their communication, presentation, and team-working skills.
- prepare all students to excel in their graduation projects, which get formally assessed and evaluated by a panel of internal and external examiners.
- intensify the students’ awareness and adaptability of the local and international job markets, which are very dynamic and rapidly changing.
All graduates from MSA’s faculty of Engineering receive two certificates: One approved by the Supreme Council of Egyptian Universities and the other approved by the University of Greenwich.
Dean's Welcome Note.
On behalf of the Engineering staff, I would like to welcome you to the Faculty of Engineering. I am confident that you have made the right choice by joining our Faculty, and hope you will enjoy your program of study and find the experience both rewarding and valuable to your future aspirations. We have recently reviewed our programs to ensure they better meet the needs of the job market and society in general, and to cover the latest development in the different engineering disciplines.
The programs offer a balance of practical skills, solid theory, and the use of computer technology, which will allow you to obtain new knowledge and skills when pursuing your career. One of the key goals of our programs is to help you become independent learners. By the time you take your graduation project in the fifth year, you will be expected to manage your time and use all the knowledge you acquired in previous years.
Engineering fields of study have been rapidly expanding over the last few years and graduates who do well in their specialization are highly valued in today's competitive job market. Our programs at the Faculty of Engineering are established and influenced by a strongly experienced staff that are fully aware of what graduates require to excel in their training and research. To help you in your learning journey, the staff will use their considerable experience and expertise to provide you with highest teaching quality, that is aligned to the different Engineering disciplines.
Furthermore, while working towards your degree, you will experience a variety of material delivery and assessment mechanisms that are appropriate to the topics in the various fields and levels of study.
You should expect to spend your efforts to use every learning resource in addition to lectures, tutorials, laboratory, seminars, and field trips. Some of these resources will be on-line, while others will be more related to library materials such as books, journals, etc. The more you use a variety of resources, the more likely you will excel.
The available specializations in the Faculty of Engineering are:
- Architectural Systems Engineering (ASE).
- Civil Engineering Systems (CES).
- Electrical Communication & Electronics Systems Engineering (ECE).
- Computer Systems Engineering (CSE).
- Industrial Systems Engineering (ISE).
- Mechanical Systems Engineering (MSE).
If you require further clarification regarding the degree you opted for, a staff member in your department will be happy to assist you.
Good Luck with your studies.
