MSA University - Physical Therapy Admission Requirements

Conditions Required for Each Certificate:

Thanaweya Amma:

  • Only Scientific Science certificate is accepted.

IGCSE & GCSE:

 

1- The Total number of subjects to be calculated are (8).

2- Passing grade for (OL) subjects is "C"

3- Passing grade for (AL or ASL) is "D"

4- Accepted scores must be taken during not more than (4) successive years from the first session with no maximum of IGCSE sittings.

5- There are (5) qualifying subjects :

  • English language or Literature.
  • Any branch of Math.
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
    + Student must take at least (3) more subjects.

American Diploma:

 

1- The Total number of subjects to be calculated are (8) subjects.

2- At least (4) subjects from Grade 12 + Maximum of (2) subjects from Grade 10.

3- The passing grade for SAT 1 or EST 1 is 800 while ACT I the passing grade is 820.

4- Each requested subject MUST be at least (1) credit.

5- There are (5) qualifying subjects :

 

 

  • English Language or Literature or Composition.
  • Any branch of Math.
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
    + Student must take at least (3) more subjects.

Important Note: The rules regarding the validity and the accepted dates for SAT / ACT or EST are set and will be announced by the Ministry of Higher Education in Egypt.

N.B : The passing grade for SAT2/EST2/ACT2 is 900
* Subjects must include: (Biology + Physics or Chemistry or Math)

Canadian:

 

1- The Total number of subjects to be calculated are (8).

2- At least (5) subjects from Grade 12 +Maximum of (3) subjects from Grade 11

3- Subjects with less than one credit are not accepted.

4- There are (5) qualifying subjects :

  • English language or Literature.
  • Any branch of Math.
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
    + Student must take at least (3) more subjects.

IB:

1- The Total number of subjects to be calculated are (6).

2- The student MUST study (3) subjects at least on the higher level + (3) on the standard level.

3- In addition to Theory of Knowledge & Extended Essay.

4- Passing score is 24/45.

5- Arabic language can be considered one of the 6 required subjects

6- Qualifying subjects:

  • English Language or Literature
  • Biology (On the higher level)
  • Chemistry (On the higher level)
    + Student must take at least (3) more subjects.

Abitur:

 

1- The total number of subjects to be calculated are (7), there are (5) qualifying subjects:

  • English language or Literature.
  • Any branch of Math.
  • Biology
  • Chemistry
  • Physics
    + (2) Elective subjects

2- ONLY (1) subject can be calculated from Grade 10 if (Biology - Chemistry - Physics)

French Baccalauréat:

1. The total number of subjects to be calculated are (7)

2. Passing mark is (10)

3. Section “SCIENCES DE LA VIE ET DE LA TERRE”

4. Year 12 must include Sciences de la vie at de la terre subject

5. Physique-Chimie can be calculated from year 11 or 12

* Other foreign certificates including certificates from Arab countries are evaluated at the Admission Office in accordance to the regulations set by the Egyptian Ministry of Higher Education.

Faculty Profile:

Faculty of Physical therapy -MSA University, has an academic structure that aspires to raise the students’ academic standards and develop their professional and practical skills. We seek to achieve excellence in the educational and learning process, scientific research and community service activities.

 

The graduates earn a Bachelor Degree of Physical Therapy after fullfilling 195 credits through academic study plan with one year compulsory internship.

 

Graduates attributes according to NARS emphasized to achieve commitment of lifelong learning, understanding the legal and ethical considerations of professional practice, working as a member of health care team, providing comprehensive health management practices, acquiring basic management and education skills for patients and caregivers, recognizing the importance of evidence based practices and communicate effectively in written and oral languages in English and Arabic.

 

The faculty departments are: Basic Sciences, Physical Therapy for internal medicine and Geriatrics, Physical Therapy for Orthopedics, Physical Therapy for Surgery and Woman health, Physical Therapy for Pediatrics, Physical Therapy for Neurology and its Surgery.

 

The facilities within the faculty of physical therapy includes a variety of 11 exclusive laboratories related to each Scientific department within the field of physical therapy: Biomechanics lab, EMG lab, Cardiopulmonary lab, Motion analysis lab, Electrotherapy lab , balance lab, Neuro-rehab and motor control lab, Hydrotherapy lab, pediatrics rehab lab, Posture assessment lab , Orthotics and Prosthetics lab.

 

Basic medical sciences are empowered by 5 basic medical labs, well equipped with the latest technology including anatomy museum.

 

Besides, the lecture halls, class rooms and the practical training rooms to achieve the knowledge and skills of the students.

 

The teaching facilities and learning resources includes simulation, E-Library resources in addition to the Clinical outpatient clinic and mechano therapy training area with the available units for adult and pediatrics to achieve competent professional training and community service.

Dear Physical Therapy students,

 

It is our pleasure to welcome you at the faculty of physical therapy at MSA university. The study of physical Therapy at MSA enables you to use the latest technologies for assessment of different clinical conditions through the courses offered in different clinical departments.

 

The Physical Therapy program is offered through 6 departments during the 5 years, in addition to a compulsory internship year under supervision. Our study plan is designed to prepare a graduate able to improve health and quality of life.

 

You will start your study plan with basic medical sciences with theoretical and lab activities in the equipped labs and competent staff. Basic Science department also offers basic physical Therapy courses that will give you a solid background in evaluation, therapeutic modalities as well as biomechanics. Biomechanics unit introduces you to deal with your body from engineering perspective, it enables you to understand the mechanism of movement down to micro-materials composing our body and identify possible pathology, abnormalities, and dysfunctions.

 

Here at MSA we offer basic biomechanics in conjunction with orthopedic department that empower using good body mechanics essential for efficient performance. Joint mechanics using functional joint models, gait analysis in motion analysis lab are covered in your study.

 

Biomechanics are also integrated with orthotics and prosthetics, and sports injury to minimize the impact of injury on performance of athletes.

 

Exercise physiology is a key constituent in the program to pave the road to the role of cardiopulmonary rehabilitation.

 

Ergonomics is one of our emphasis areas to prepare the graduate to be able to assess workload and design safe workstation and construct healthy productive workplace. In the department of Women health and surgery we include application in laboratories within the well-equipped college as well as clinical training in hospitals. MSA outpatient clinic and various medical institutions for women across life span. Also Rehabilitation before and after certain surgeries and burn which is crucial for patients to stay out of bed and eventually return to their normal daily living will be emphasized.

During level five you will deal with pediatric physical therapy department to give you the essential training skills to improve life and daily functions of children who suffers from a wide range of injuries and congenital anomalies considering motor skills from day 1 to 18 years old child.

 

Throughout the study you will be trained to treat and deal with cerebral palsy, autism, cardiopulmonary disorders, and postural distortions in addition to wide range of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular disorders. Also in level five the student will learn how to deal with the Neurology department and the neurological disorders.

 

Communication skills and leadership potentials are empowered to potentiate patient education objectives and extracurricular activities. Documentation in physical therapy, hospital management, research seminars, differential diagnosis and Physical therapy in oncology are courses designed to prepare students to work with the latest job demands and standards to match the community needs.
